Suggestion Forum
The Suggestion Forum is a public board where your product’s users can submit ideas, vote on them, and discuss. Instead of collecting feedback from emails, chats, and conversations — you have one place where you can see what matters most to customers.
How Does It Work?
The Suggestion Forum is one type of knowledge base in Intum. You create a knowledge base of the “forum” type, add categories (e.g., “New Features,” “Improvements,” “Integrations”), and make it publicly available.
Adding Suggestions
Anyone can add a suggestion — no need to log in or create an account. They enter a title, description, and choose a category. The suggestion appears on the list immediately.
Voting
There’s a voting button next to each suggestion. Users click and the suggestion moves up the list. By default, suggestions are sorted by number of votes — the most important ones for customers are at the top.
You can vote once every 24 hours per suggestion (from the same browser).
Comments
Comments can be added under each suggestion — both users and the product team. Useful for refining ideas, asking questions, or informing about status.
Statuses
Suggestions can be marked with statuses (e.g., “Planned,” “In progress,” “Implemented,” “Rejected”). Statuses display as colored labels and can be filtered. This shows customers that their ideas are being considered.
Why Run a Suggestion Forum?
- Know what to build — instead of guessing, you see what customers vote for
- Customers feel heard — they can influence the product’s direction
- Fewer repetitive questions — instead of writing to support “are you planning X?”, the customer checks the forum
- Data-driven prioritization — 200 votes say more than 1 email from a vocal customer
- Transparency — statuses show the team is working on submissions
Setup
- Create a knowledge base of the forum type (
/kb/knowledge_bases/new) - Add categories (e.g., New Features, Improvements, Fixes)
- Add statuses in the knowledge base settings (e.g., Planned, In progress, Implemented)
- Connect a domain or share under the knowledge base address
The forum is ready — customers can add suggestions, vote, and comment.
Connection with Changelog
When you implement a suggestion, change its status to “Implemented” and add an entry in the changelog. Customers see that their idea made it into the product — and you build trust.
