## What Is a User

A user is a person who has access to an Intum account. Each user has their own profile, dashboard, and a set of permissions that determine which features they can access.

## User Profile

The profile includes:

- **First and last name** — displayed in the system
- **Email** — contact address (may differ from the login email)
- **Phone** — contact number, optionally for SMS notifications
- **Avatar** — profile picture
- **Description** — brief information about the user

## Dashboard

After logging in, users see their dashboard with an overview of:

- Assigned tasks
- Recent activities
- Notifications
- Favorite items

## Roles

Each user has an assigned role in the account:

- **Owner** — account owner, full permissions
- **Admin** — administrator, manages users and settings
- **User** — standard user, access to modules
- **Guest** — guest, limited access (requires approval)

## Organizational Structures

### [Group](group)

A [group](group) connects users around a common goal — most often for managing emails and customer support. A group can be responsible for tasks, mailboxes, and chat widgets.

### [Team](team)

A [team](team) is an organizational structure for work management. It contains users, [projects](project), and tasks. Each user can have an assigned primary team. A team can have a designated responsible person.

### [Department](department)

A [department](department) is a company's organizational structure. It can have its own email and phone number. Departments are linked to email templates and customer support.

## Work Hours and Leave

Users can set in their profile:

- **Work schedule** — work hours for each day of the week
- **Workplace** — e.g., office, remote
- **Leave** — dates from/to, visible to the entire [team](team)

## Notifications

The notification system informs users about:

- [Assigned tasks](task-assignment)
- Changes to watched tasks
- Comments and updates
- New emails

Notifications can be received in the system, by email, or by SMS.

## Favorites

Users can add items (tasks, contacts) to **Favorites** to track their changes and quickly return to them.

## Security

- **Two-factor authentication (2FA)** — optional SMS verification at login
- **API tokens** — for integration with external tools
- **Activity history** — logging all user actions
